Study Care Professions at MK College

Traditional jobs such as nursing, care-giving and teaching are developing to offer more effective care and education. Together the health and social care sectors employ one in ten of the working population in the UK, with an extra half a million jobs expected to be filled by 2030.

Courses Available

You may have noticed that we offer Intermediate and Advanced courses for most areas.

Intermediate courses are equivalent to Level 1/2 and are for those people who need a bit of extra focus and support in order to learn more about their specific interest, get familiar with tools and equipment and may need to resit GCSE English and/or maths.

Advanced courses are equivalent to Level 3 and are ideal for people who have a good grasp of their interest, but need to focus on developing their technical skill and concentrate on growing their skills and employability, learning how to turn their talent into a career.

Care Professions Courses

Health & Social Care

This course offers you the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the Health & Social Care sector through a selection of specialist units to help prepare you for working in the sector. You will develop specific skills for study and research, which is essential to succeed. You will have the opportunity to develop your practical and technical skills through work experience, visits from guest speakers and specialist workshops.

Childcare

You will become familiar with the practices of childcare, from child development to learning through play. You will develop your personal study skills, learning how to work both in teams and independently on a variety of projects. From presenting information in an engaging way, to administrative tasks and processes, your study skills will come on leaps and bounds, enabling you to tackle Level 3 coursework head on.
