Meet the experts

Inclusive Learning students have the opportunity to experience a wide range of trips and activities during their time at College.

We have annual events we arrange as a team; Jolly and Jingle at Christmas (whole department); Face Your Fears (Animal Care); Bingo Night ( New Horizons); Quiz Night (Independent Living) and prom.

We have just started to work with Woughton Community Council at their Coffee Hall community hall; where we ran a very successful afternoon tea and dance event for local residents.

Trips this year have included job fairs, the zoo, shopping centres and Wrigglies Reptile Centre. Students have undertaken valuable work experience with Duck End Farm, The Brasserie and the Holiday Inn.

Come to an In Person Open Event!

Whilst on this course, you will focus on a wide range of work related units and industry based scenarios. You will initially work in a coffee shop, learning the role of a barista. You will gain excellent customer service skills, learning how to take orders and communicate with the general public. In addition you will study English and maths to develop the abilities needed to progress in today’s society and workplace.

Supported Internship

Are you eager to get working sooner rather than later? Do you want to learn outside of the classroom? A supported Internship will offer you first-hand experience of life in the workplace, whilst still providing you with support and guidance.

You could work for companies such as Tesco, Holiday Inn and Bosch, to name a few, in a variety of different internships depending on your interests. There is a high chance of permanent employment upon completion of your internship.

Catering & Hospitality

Looking for a job where you can develop transferable employability and customer skills? If you are aged between 16 and 24, have special educational needs, or require a supported learning environment and you have an interest in the hospitality industry and serving customers in a professional environment such as restaurants, coffee shops or hotels then this course is for you. We provide a social and relaxed environment and aim to help you progress in a way that is suited to you.

Retail, Catering and Hospitality

Are you a friendly and approachable person? Do you like talking to all sorts of different people? To be successful in retail you must be able to communicate well and build relationships with other people, both in business and customer service. You must be reasonably comfortable working with numbers, and be confident in your decision-making. A career in retail can be rewarding, versatile and challenging. There are lots of opportunities for progression in retail, and you will gain lots of transferable skills.

What do our students think?

Harry has completed a Supported Internship at Milton Keynes College.

“My experience at MK College has been brilliant, it has helped me to become more confident, all the staff and tsa’s were very helpful and supported me in lessons. I was also very happy with the staff helping me with the panic attacks I sometimes had at College and the 1-1 support was amazing. Since leaving College I have been an outgoing and positive person.

I was so happy to get a place at MK College, I can remember my very first day there and I was very nervous, after a few months of being at College I felt very safe and secure. I was very happy to make the staff and the tsa’s laugh and smile with my amazing sense of humour and with my music skills. If it wasn’t for the staff supporting me I wouldn’t be who I am now. I miss you all very much!”

Taylor has studied Independent Living, Catering and Performing Arts before moving on to complete a Supported Internship.

“I have been a part of the MK College family for five years. It is an incredible journey as I have met the most amazing teachers, teaching assistants and friends along the way, who are truly all superstars. I will always remember the happy memories, amazing moments, incredible opportunities, fun times and all the laughter.

I have done a lot of different courses, everything from cooking in Inclusive Learning to having the courage to move into mainstream College to complete my Level 1 Performing Arts. If it wasn’t for all of the fabulous people at MK College, I would have not have had such a wonderful time. Keep up the great work MK College, you are awesome!”
